Q & A

1. When Will My Domain be Active?

Once InterNIC announces that your domain name has been registered (or transferred, if applicable), it usually takes about 2-5 days before it is active. All Internet providers must update their records (DNS tables) to reflect new site locations. This is called propagation.

2. What Name Should I Use For My Home Page

You must name your main loading file one of the following names: index.html index.htm home.html home.htm This list also shows the order of precedence for home page names on our system. As you can see from the list, "index.html" takes highest precedence. What this means is that if you have two files in your main directory, one named "index.html" and one named "index.htm", our system will treat the file named "index.html" as the home page. Please keep this in mind when you are naming your home page.

3. Do We Keep Backups?

There is a sequential tape backup of each server's hard drive at the end of each week. Each tape is recycled after four weeks. It is meant to be used to restore the server in the event of an emergency. Because this backup is sequential, it is to be used to restore the server as a whole and is not used to restore individual sites. It is the responsibility of the client to make and maintain backups of the current web site. Our company assumes no liability what so ever for the client's failure to exercise this basic precaution. We STRONGLY urge you to keep a complete copy of all your files and directories locally. If you make changes to your Front Page webs in real time on the server, publish them to your local Personal Web Server. Keeping backups of everything on your site is not difficult if done on a regular basis.

4. What is FTP?

FTP means File Transfer Protocol. Use FTP to upload and download files to and from your website. On registering with apex solutions we ask that you supply a master user name and password. If you have not specified we will assign one to you. Use this information to gain FTP access to your server via a FTP program. To publish/ftp to your domain type the domain name or I.P. and enter the user name and password. You may require to enter a directory path. If you do not know what your directory path is you will need to request this information. Front Page users and domains with Front Page extension do not require the use of FTP software. Front Page can publish you website to the domain via the program.

5. I can't send group e-mails? How can i send group e-mails

Our Standard Services does not allow group e-mailing or mailing list.

This is considered "SPAM" and any indication of this could result in your website being automatically terminated. You can however request a Mailing List Service for an additional monthly charge.

6. Can I access my domain emails online?

Yes. As of August 2001, customers signing up with our Hosting Packages get this as a standard feature in our products. Be able to access your @yourdomainname.com e-mails any where on any P.C. via an Internet browser (just like any hotmail or yahoo e-mail address!!!).

Simply browse to http://mail.yourdomainname.com(replace ith your domain name) where you will be presented with a login form.

Enter the email address to check and the password for that email. Once your logged in you will be taken to the main interface area where there would be an indication of any new messages.

Use the Mail interface just as you would a regular e-mail programme or hotmail/ yahoo mail centre.
